Hello? This is from ____ company, are you part of the family? This call is on behalf of ___ management and we would just want to conduct a survey. It will only take a fraction of your time.

Phone surveys are used to gather information among all sorts of topic. These systems collect significant data that could help the government or private sectors. This manner of information gathering follow typical measures such as when we fill up forms, only in this approach, phone is the medium used. Just like in any other procedures, it is a must to voice out informed consents, and tell us whose number is it. Other system generated surveys record the whole conversation for quality assurance.
Not uncommon, as it is, that there are companies doing fraud calls just to get important information from you. Parents, guardians, take note of this and inform minors about this kind of tactics. I have several experiences regarding this matter. They end the call as soon as they know that I am a minor no matter whose number is it, however, those with different intention see this as an opportunity. They might be able to get through your personal records and bring it into play so beware and never let them know the following:

a. Credit card numbers - you will just then be surprised that when you received your bills, you see charges which you are sure you never utilized or bought

b. Social Security Numbers, Tax Identification Number and other government data - they might create a whole new person messing up your accounts and even clearances. Always always ask whose number is it.

c. Your schedule - they might have an idea when your house is occupied or not if they're planning to break in, or worse, to know when your kids will be at school and use it as a chance to kidnap them.

Here is what you should do upon receiving calls from a survey team:

If your home phone is equipped with caller ID, get their digits. I suggest for you to let them wait for a few minutes and check whose number is it on websites that offer phone directories or phone recalls. Few minutes spared is nothing compared to your safety. I was once told that if the company who is calling is legit, they would wait. Doing this may help save you, your possessions, and your loved ones.
